Dear YMCA Friends, Colleagues and Supporters:
This past year was a time of significant challenges and impressive accomplishments for the
Capital District YMCA. In spite of the current economic stresses we are all facing, we
touched more lives and made a positive impact on more people than ever before in our
collective, 18 year history.
- The Bethlehem Area YMCA has become a full facility, which serves over 9,000 enthusiastic members.
- The Southern Saratoga YMCA opened the KidzLodge - Early Learning and
Adventure Center, and now has 180 children utilizing this unique facility.
- The Greater Glenville YMCA opened a 4,000 sq. ft. expansion of its Wellness Center.
- The Greene County YMCA established a satellite operation which includes a
Wellness Center offering selected Group Exercise classes, youth programs and an
assortment of activities; the After School Program has a five school foundation
and has received requests for services from other schools on a regular basis.
These expansions, additions and overall association growth, has allowed us to reach deeper
into each community we serve providing greater services to children and families.
This year over $1.3 million dollars was raised during our Reach Out For Youth Annual
Support Campaign, giving the YMCA the ability and opportunity to serve over 30,000 kids
and families. This is the largest dollar amount ever raised by the Capital District YMCA for
ROFY. In addition, we raised $2.4 million dollars in Capital Campaign contributions, with $700,000 going towards our new Schenectady YMCA project and $1.7 million going
towards establishing the Greene County YMCA in Coxsackie. These funds will allow us to
bring very needed and desired services to these wonderful communities.
Through these universally economic hard times, the Capital District YMCA has persevered
and accomplished some significant milestones. We have reduced our debt by over $1
million dollars, while generating $1.7 million dollars more in revenue than last year. This,
in today’s economic climate was a great and positive accomplishment. Our balance heet is
strong with a better than 1-to-1 ratio of assets and liabilities, all of which are indicators
that our organization is fiscally healthy and strong.
And, as always, we are thankful for the many volunteers, donors and members whose
commitment to our mission is so critical to our continuing success
