COXSACKIE, NY – The Capital District YMCA capital campaign project received a $325,000 donation from Empire Merchants North.
“We’re thrilled to receive this gift from Empire Merchants North, and even more delighted that in addition to this important support, Empire Merchants North will match us, dollar for dollar during the next 60 days, up to $300,000” noted Greene County YMCA Executive Director Heather Bagshaw.
Bagshaw noted that a special website is available, making it easy to give (http://cdymcagreenecountycapitalcampaign.kintera.org).
“We take great pride in the support we provide to the local community, organizations and projects.,” said Jay Andretta, President of Empire Merchants North. “Historically, it has been a corporate priority to financially assist worthwhile projects that benefit the local residents and our workforce. The YMCA project is clearly an initiative we can get excited about and today we want to express our help to make it a reality.”
The Greene County YMCA capital campaign project involves moving to a new facility, located in the Greene Business & Technology Park on Route 9W in Coxsackie. The new facility will feature state-of-the art wellness amenities, and offer programs to help children, teens, adults, and seniors live happier, healthier lives.
Currently located on Mansion Street in West Coxsackie, the Greene County YMCA has a children’s corner and group exercise studio offering Yoga, indoor cycling, step aerobics and other programs designed to help build strong kids, families, and communities. In addition, the Greene County Y provides before- and after-school programs for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Programs are available at Coxsackie Elementary School and EJ Arthur Elementary School.
“As Empire Merchants North has demonstrated so well, communities build YMCAs,” noted Capital District YMCA President & CEO David Brown. “Clearly, Greene County values our seniors, children and families, and what better way to serve them than through the help that a new YMCA can provide,” noted capital campaign co-chairs Hugh & Peggy Quigley.
